Big Green Egg vs. Primo Grill – Kamado Grill Comparison

Big Green Egg or Primo XL – Head To Head

This is the first time I have had the chance to compare the two most popular Kamado grills side by side. So I was excited to observe the abilities of both these high end ceramic grills as they would be both working hard. (more…)

Pool Safety Covers – Swimming Pool Safety Covers

Pool Safety Covers

Pool safety covers are thee way to safely close your inground swimming pool. Nothing is more important than ensuring the safety of other people and pets around a swimming pool. In fact many cities and municipalities now require the use of a safety pool cover for all in ground pools. Besides the obvious safety advantages, the safety cover does a fantastic job of keeping out debris like leaves, twigs and other unwanted contaminants from entering the pool water. A safety cover also keeps out about 95%-98% of sunlight, greatly reducing the growth of algae. These covers also do not blow off or flap during winter storms thanks to their proven securing system. Sure they may cost more than the traditional “tarp” style pool cover, but there is no comparison in quality or safety.

Natural Swimming Pool In Thassos, Greece

Giola, the lagoon in the rock, is located near the village Astris on the Greek Island of Thassos. This incredible formation is often called the most beautiful natural swimming pool in the world. This pool get it’s water from the Aegean Sea as tide waters rise and splash against the shore, filling the pool with water. However, because the lagoon pool is separated from the sea by a rock wall, the water in the lagoon stays much warmer than the sea making Giola a warm and inviting place to swim.
Several mythical tales surround this natural wonder. According to Greek legend, the pool is the eye of Zeus, and he used it to spy on his mistress. According to another legend, Zeus created Giola for Aphrodite to bathe in, so Giola is also called “Aphrodite’s tear”. Finally, mythological Syrens who have attracted sailors with their beautiful singing, were believed to have resided here too.
Giola is somewhat remote and difficult to reach because of rocky terrain but visitors say the experience is well worth the trip. A definite must see if you ever find yourself on southeast side of this beautiful Greek Island. (more…)

Rusty Pool Walls

In all, an above ground pool is a very worthy investment. Where else can you have decades of fun for such a small amount of money. However, eventually your investment may need may need some additional help to keep delivering the good times. It would likely last forever if it did not eventually succumb to corrosion, this includes aluminum pools and pool walls too.
Regardless of the type of metal your pool is constructed of, it going to happen to most every above ground pool owner sooner or later. I am referring to the discovery you find when it comes time to replace the liner in your above ground pool.  You dig and and upon the liner’s removal you discover rust on the inside of the pool wall. Your heart sinks at the thought of not being able to use your pool again or the possibility of having to spend money to replace it. (more…)

Above Ground Pool Fence Installation

When it comes to the installation of an above ground swimming pool, there are many things to take into consideration and none more important than safety. The last thing you want is to install a pool that is not going to be safe for your family and others who may swim in the pool from time to time.
It is so easy to get so caught up in the excitement of installing a pool that we often overlook this detail, but many municipalities in this country require you to have a fence around your pool or yard. Now if you already have a fenced in yard you may not need to acquire a fence kit all though many families do. One big reason pool fences for above ground pools have gained popularity is the fact that they are far less expensive than fencing in an entire backyard and do a great job of keeping pool toys in the pool.
